About Me

Welcome to my photography portfolio! I'm Niya, a journalism student enrolled at Wilfrid Laurier University in Brantford. Photography wasn't always my passion, but an unexpected journey led me here.

Initially skeptical about photography, I observed my cousin's side business in photography, hustling to perfect every shot. I used to question why anyone would invest so much time and effort in taking multiple photos for just one or two favourites. Little did I know, I'd soon find my own passion behind the lens.

Embarking on my photography journey was challenging; my perfectionist nature often led to self-doubt when things didn't match my expectations. However, photography taught me two vital lessons: patience and the pursuit of improvement through practice. While my photos may not be flawless, each one carries significance, reflecting the dedication I've poured into them.

With time, photography has found a special place in my heart, and I strive to evolve every day. Beyond photography, my true passion lies in editing. I've always considered myself more of an editor than a photographer. For me, editing breathes life into a photo, adding depth and transforming its essence. Even an initially unremarkable photo can become captivating through the art of editing.
